Testimonials: I would highly recommend Coker for any management or consulting project.” Al Burfeind, IS Manager, GE Capital Asset Management"Now our data is merged into one database and there is order." Marva Gumbs, Executive Director, GW University Career Center“ I love how transparent your work is! I've worked with developers before who were insistent that they be the gurus, with mysterious goings on behind the curtains. I love that as I review the detail, it is very clear what is what, which gives me the information that I need to give you the feedback you need. I know this will help keep the changes down later... So I commend you on that style.” Amy Jackson, Child Life Council “Your understanding of our needs, expert advice and prompt response time to our hardware problems have been an invaluable service to our organization. It has truly been a pleasure doing business with you.” Brenda Grembowski, Supervisor, Commission of Accounts Office, Circuit Court of Fairfax County. "[You] helped me clarify and deal with this year and start thinking about next year." Eileen Mandell, Pepper Hamilton“Coker is very creative, and can propose ideas to help us solve this problem.” Roy Fontane, Controller, Nutrition Inc. |

Fragmented FranchisesProblem: The corporate office of a growing security systems business had five different lists of their franchises. Keeping this information synchronized required all franchise information changes to be made in these five different places. Obviously errors, inconsistencies and the redundancy of this system were causing significant problems for management. Solution: We converted their multiple lists into one centralized database providing increased data value for the entire business. Further, we integrated financial and operational information into this singular database. Testimonial: Our Franchise production has never been easier. We can track royalty revenue, sales performance and our apprehensions level with the systems Coker developed. And you trained us how to write queries so that we can pull data from the database for additional analysis reports. Doreen Herring, Vice President of Marketing, Sonitrol Corporation |
Accounting for PoolsProblem: Pools by Young, a family-owned swimming pool installation and service business was far behind in their billings and collections. Donna Young, the owner had bought Peachtree Accounting™ software, a cost-effective small business accounting system. However she didn’t know how to use it, and her cash needs weren't keeping up with her payment demands. Solution: We met with Donna and her accounting staff and reviewed how they were managing her accounts receivables and accounts payables. We made several practical suggestions on how to improve paper files, such as using copies of checks to document and post cash receipts and organizing accounts receivable by customer instead of date. We helped her customize the Peachtree Accounting™ software including setting up vendors, personalizing invoices and tracking jobs, equipment and service revenues. Within a short time, Pools by Young caught up with their billing, receivables were far better managed, and cash flow had greatly improved. Testimonial: We were so far behind in our billing, and I knew we weren’t managing our customer’s needs either. Coker really helped me get an accounting system in place that was easy for me to use and helped me manage the piles of paper. We saved hours of manual tasks and processes with the new accounting system. Donna Young, President, Pools by Young |
Pest ConversionProblem: Year 2000 was looming and a Noble Pest Control, a pest control business, had an old DOS computer and accounting system that was not Y2K compliant. While David Noble liked the functions of his software including the interfaced inventory, accounting, and driver/route maintenance functions, he knew he needed to find a new computer system that would be Y2K compliant and able to utilize the newer features of a Windows-based environment.. Solution: Doing research on the World Wide Web and with pest control professional associations, Coker found a reasonably priced software solution for Noble Pest Control. And for a nominal fee, they converted their old data into the new system. Through the installation of PC Anywhere™, their bookkeeper was able to login from home to manage the accounting. Testimonial: Coker really saved us. We didn’t know what to do with that old system, and now we have a new one that’s even easier to use. I ended up spending less money than I thought I’d have to and have a better system to show for it. David Noble, President, Noble Pest Control |
Real Estate MigrationProblem: A large east coast Real Estate firm was migrating from a customized accounting system that had been developed on a small mainframe system in the 1980’s (that was not Y2K compliant). The new, more comprehensive software was in development on a client-server platform. Selected files needed to be converted to the new system. Automated processes and calculations, technical documentation and process maps were needed. An interface between the old system and new needed to be defined and developed. Solution: Coker came in and reverse-engineered the existing system. By meeting with users and reviewing source code, we were able to document and map how the system worked. We worked with the client-server group to define the new system processes and design the link between the new and the old computer system. Testimonial: We didn’t have anybody who could talk both the old mainframe and the new client/server language. Coker provided us with a good road map for moving from the old system to the new. Using a consulting firm like CokerSoft was the best solution for this project. |

Management Training Problem: In 1995, a stay-at-home mom was returning to the work force. While she had used a terminal on a mainframe computer years ago, her computer skills were completely out-of-date -- she didn’t even know how to use a mouse! Solution: Coker designed a series of customized training sessions, teaching her what she need to know to become computer literate and business ready. Testimonial: I was so embarrassed about my weak computer skills, and needed a quick and easy way to get up to speed. A few hours with Coker and I could point and click, understood how Windows works, and had practice exercises that would help me improve on my own. |
